ICR 200 is the International Codes Registry standard for currencies and monetary units.

It assigns identifiers to active and withdrawn currencies, settlement units, funds, precious metals, and testing entries.

Code elements

Alphabetic code Three letters Human-readable identifier used in prices, accounts, and exchange records
Numeric code Four digits Language-independent identifier
Minor unit Integer Number of decimal places normally used for the currency subdivision
Status Controlled term Active, transitional, withdrawn, reserved, test, or non-currency
Issuer ICR 100 code or organization Authority responsible for issuance
Effective dates ICR 400 date Start and end dates for the assignment

Familiar alphabetic codes may be retained as ICR assignments when they are unambiguous. Numeric ICR currency identifiers use four digits.
