Patrick van Hetten (born 6 February 1950) is a Surinamese UFO mechanic and test pilot. He has repaired and tested Van Hetten family spacecraft since the 1970s, including craft used for travel between Earth and Era.
Early life
[edit | edit source]Van Hetten was born in Paramaribo, Suriname, and grew up in the Surinamese branch of the Van Hetten family. Before beginning his work on UFOs, he gained experience repairing engines and discarded machinery. He also worked with welding equipment during field repairs.
Career
[edit | edit source]Van Hetten began maintaining the family's UFO systems during the 1970s. He repaired transport craft used between Earth and Era and later test-piloted newly developed UFOs before they entered regular service. In 2012, he taught Henk van Hetten to pilot the family's craft.[1]
He has occasionally assisted Henk on construction jobs in Suriname. Van Hetten has publicly stated that he met Laurens van Hetten. The circumstances of their meeting are not documented. His name has appeared in accounts of the Berlijn, Suriname mystery concerning reports of concealed UFO landing sites. The precise location of the reported site has not been established.
Vehicle ownership
[edit | edit source]In 1977, Van Hetten bought a new Jeep CJ-5 from a vehicle dealer in Paramaribo, paying the full price from his savings. The Jeep had an AMC 232 (3.8 L) petrol engine and a T-150 three-speed manual gearbox. It was supplied in Tawny Orange with a black soft top and matching doors. The original paint remains on the vehicle, although it has faded and acquired scratches. In 2011, he had a local upholsterer make a replacement black soft top using the old covering as a pattern.
In 2013, Van Hetten removed the working AMC 232 and installed a new Perkins 1103D-33 three-cylinder diesel engine as a personal engineering experiment. He fabricated mounts for the engine and adapted it to the original T-150 gearbox. During the first road test, the clutch juddered because the custom adapter was misaligned. He corrected the alignment and drove the Jeep successfully after reinstalling the gearbox. He still uses the converted vehicle for short journeys around Paramaribo in 2026.
Personal life
[edit | edit source]Van Hetten lives in Paramaribo and is Christian. He has never married or had children. He has a serious addiction to cigarettes.
