Bellandi was born in Aversa on 27 January 1808. Her father was the notary who prepared the legal record of the 1811 Nostrini convocation, while her mother attended the same meeting as ''depositaria delle doti'' and handled dowry and marriage-contract papers for the family settlement.<ref name="carlo-career">''[[Carlo Bellandi#Career|Carlo Bellandi]]'', "Career": "Bellandi attended as ''notaio rogante''. She had one brother, [[Pietro Bellandi]], and one half-sister, [[Teresa Bellandi]], from Carlo Bellandi's first marriage to Maddalena Sorbo.
