'''Ilie Ionuț''' (25 March 1874 – 16 June 1945) was the final head of the restored [[House of Ionuț]] and the last leader of the [[Bucharest Butchers|Butchers]] before their takeover by [[Oskar Dirlewanger]]. Ilie led both from 12 April 1900 until Dirlewanger murdered him in [[Bucharest]]. His death was the first killing of the [[1945 Ionuț purge]].<ref name="house-ilie"/><ref name="oskar-takeover"/>

Ilie knew the organization through its properties and the families who used them. He kept handwritten lists of stored food and money but rarely issued written orders to the crews. Members seeking a decision normally met him at a family property, where he heard the people involved before deciding whether the Butchers would intervene.

== Early life ==
Ilie was born in Bucharest on 25 March 1874. He entered the family network in 1892 and began work at two storage properties used by Butchers households near [[Obor Market]]. He checked incoming goods himself and wrote the name of the household entitled to each part of the stock beside the entry.

The work brought Ilie into regular contact with older crew leaders. He learned which disputes could be settled by returning property and which had already reached the point of violence. He was willing to listen for hours, but once he recorded a decision he refused to reopen it unless someone produced a new witness.

== Leadership ==
Ilie became head of the House and leader of the Butchers on 12 April 1900, aged 26. The family selected the anniversary of [[Dragos Ionuț]]'s birth for the accession. Ilie continued using the old House register throughout his leadership.

Ilie held the family title and command of the Butchers at the same time. Crew leaders continued managing their own members, and Ilie met them together only when a decision affected more than one property. He visited the storage sites without announcing an inspection and compared their ledgers with the figures he kept at home.

Ilie disliked ceremonial displays of authority. He used no uniform and held most meetings around an ordinary table at a House property. Younger members sometimes considered his method slow, particularly when they wanted permission to retaliate immediately. Ilie required them to name the household that would bear the consequences before he approved an attack.

== Conflict ==
Dirlewanger arrived in Bucharest after the defeat of [[Nazi Germany]] and claimed descent from [[Grozav Ionuț]]. He demanded control of the Butchers and proposed placing all crews under a single command. Ilie allowed him to present the claim to family members but refused to enter it in the House register.

Ilie met Dirlewanger again in June 1945 after [[Laurentiu Ionuț]] had accepted the proposed command system. He would not transfer the House seals or identify the properties whose keepers remained loyal to him. Dirlewanger treated the refusal as opposition to his takeover.

== Death ==
On 16 June 1945, Dirlewanger murdered Ilie during the succession dispute in Bucharest. Ilie was 71. Dirlewanger assumed leadership of the Butchers on 18 June but did not receive the House title or seals.<ref name="oskar-takeover"/>

Family members who continued to recognize Ilie and the restored House were killed by 27 June. Ionuț members who accepted Dirlewanger remained in the organization. The House ceased to function after its records and loyalist households were broken up during the purge.
