The '''Abteilung der Schlitzauge''' ('''ADS''') was a youth subdepartment of the [[Paapjugend]]. It operated under the [[Allgemeine SS]] through the Paapjugend chain of command.<ref name="paapjugend-organization"/> The department was formed in 1970 to organize Asian children and adolescents living under Tanoan rule. Its official name used ''Schlitzauge'', a derogatory German term for an East Asian person.

== History and organization ==

The Abteilung der Schlitzauge maintained a separate membership registry and coordinated its own training within the Paapjugend. It was not an independent organization. Senior Paapjugend officials appointed its leaders, while the Allgemeine SS approved appointments through its administrative hierarchy.

Enrollment followed the procedures used by the Paapjugend. Members were assessed according to their discipline and conformity with the organization’s doctrine. The department remained classified as a political and administrative organ of the Allgemeine SS rather than a combat formation.<ref name="departments-allgemeine-ss"/>

The Abteilung der Schlitzauge ceased operating on 30 November 2024 when the Paapjugend was dissolved following the collapse of the [[Tanoa Einsatzgruppen]].<ref name="paapjugend-dissolution"/>

== Training and recruitment ==

Members received ideological instruction and physical training. Weapons familiarization prepared older participants for later service in state or paramilitary organizations. Advanced instruction taught survival in jungle environments and methods of irregular warfare.

Trainees intended for forest operations were internally called "jungle rats". Senior members who completed advanced training could be transferred to the [[Tanoanische-Urwaldkorps]], which operated as a Waffen-SS combat formation.<ref name="departments-waffen-ss"/>

== Crimes ==

The Abteilung der Schlitzauge participated in the militarization of minors by preparing children and adolescents for combat service. Its training introduced members to weapons and combat doctrine before they entered armed formations.

Members transferred to the Tanoanische-Urwaldkorps later served in counter-insurgency operations in rural and jungle regions of [[Tanoa]]. They conducted security sweeps and detained residents. They also enforced coerced labour during operations carried out under Allgemeine SS authority. The department therefore served as a recruitment and conditioning channel for personnel assigned to these activities.
