He was the first recorded member of the [[Rambam family]] to use the shortened surname Rambam. He was the son of [[Eliyahu Rahamim]] and the father of [[Dumitru Rambam]].

== Early life ==
Constantin Rahamim was born in [[Slatina, Romania|Slatina]], [[Romania]], on 11 October 1867. His father, [[Eliyahu Rahamim]], came from [[Jerusalem]] before settling in Romania.

Constantin first carried his father's surname, Rahamim. He later used the Romanian form Rambamescu before shortening the family name to Rambam. The shortened form became the surname used by his descendants.

Rambam became a professor of pathological anatomy. His work was connected to medical education and anatomical study.
