== Early life and education ==
Girolamo Nostrini was born on 12 August 1783 in [[Aversa]], then part of the [[Kingdom of Naples]]. He belonged to the northern branch of the family during the period before the family’s gradual surname change from Nostrini to Norte.

Nostrini began private instruction in Aversa on 3 October 1790. On 6 November 1796, he entered the Seminario vescovile di Aversa as an external lay pupil. His education focused on Latin reading, formal handwriting, and legal copying. He left the seminary on 19 July 1800. On 4 February 1801, he began archive training under Carlo Bellandi, the notary later present at the 1811 convocation.
