== Early life ==
Marku Ionuț was born on 8 June 1979 in Bucharest and was raised in a family active in the Bucharest Butchers. He never attended school. By the age of five, he regularly left the family home at night and wandered through the city until police officers or residents returned him. At ten, he began collecting dead animals and cutting them apart before bringing the remains to playgrounds to frighten other children. When he was twelve, he strangled a ten-year-old child who had refused to leave a playground. His family's criminal contacts prevented police from opening a case.

Marku began selling narcotics through Bucharest Butchers networks at fifteen. At sixteen, he obtained a mobile phone and began recording his crimes. His father purchased a computer for him two years later so that the recordings could be stored on hard drives. By eighteen, Marku had killed more than ten people while carrying out work for the Bucharest Butchers or acting for personal reasons. His father bribed police officers to prevent investigations into the killings.

At twenty, Marku began distributing his recordings through criminal networks. Shortly before leaving the family home, he returned with a double-barrelled shotgun and killed both of his parents. He also killed the family dog, sold the contents of the house through the black market and spent the money on additional computer storage. Marku kept duplicate copies of the recordings on separate hard drives.
