== Relationship with Dragos Ionuț == Mircea met a woman named Elena during a one-night encounter. After Elena became pregnant, he abandoned her and refused responsibility for the child. She gave birth to Dragos near [[Bucharest]] on 12 April 1478.<ref name="dragos-early-life"/> Elena later left the infant at Mircea's residence because she could not support him. Mircea rejected the child and ordered that he be removed. Dragos was abandoned on the street before being taken in by a church-affiliated monastery.<ref name="dragos-early-life"/>
