== Mont Tanoa concentration camp == Mont Tanoa concentration camp The Mont Tanoa concentration camp was a detention and forced-labor complex located inside and around the volcanic structure. It operated from 1991 until 30 November 2024. The camp held Tanoan native civilians, who were assigned to excavation teams, tunnel reinforcement units, ore transport details, and maintenance crews. The camp was divided into surface and underground sectors. The surface sector contained barracks, administrative buildings, storage depots, guard towers, and industrial structures. The underground sector contained mining tunnels, shafts, ore chambers, and transport corridors. Access between the sectors was controlled by guarded checkpoints and secured elevator shafts. The camp formed a central part of the regime’s resource extraction system. Prisoner labor supported gold extraction, tunnel expansion, and maintenance of the volcanic installation. The Vulkane Einsatzgruppen enforced discipline and production requirements, while the Reichsschatzamt von Tanoa managed financial coordination connected to extracted gold.
