Editing Martinus Antonius Johannes Paap (section)

Death
Martinus died in Vriendendam on 7 November 2000 at the age of 122, one day before his 123rd birthday.

His funeral was attended by members of the Paap family, former soldiers and members of the Wehrmacht-Veteranenverein Vriendendam. Several of his grandchildren were present. Jan Paap, who had remained estranged from Martinus and the wider Paap family, did not attend.

As part of the funeral procession, the vehicle carrying Martinus's coffin was driven for one lap around the Vriendendam Racetrack, where veterans and other attendees gathered before the procession continued.
