== Succession crisis ==
Grozav killed Dragos on 23 November 1521 and seized the Butchers. On 24 November, he declared himself head of the House. Maria and the four other children refused to recognize the claim.<ref name="succession-crisis"/>

Mihai asked the affiliated households to declare whether they accepted Grozav. [[Stefan Ionuț]] persuaded Butchers commanders to abandon him. [[Elena Ionuț]] removed the main register and two House seals from the family home. [[Irina Ionuț]] carried the meeting instructions and the households' responses.

On 2 December, Mihai read the households' rejection of Grozav's claim. Stefan removed the commanders who continued accepting Grozav's orders. Grozav lost control of the Butchers on 18 December and fled into the [[Holy Roman Empire]].<ref name="succession-crisis"/>
