== Succession crisis == Dragos and Maria had five children. Grozav was the eldest. Grozav rejected Dragos's resistance-oriented direction. On 23 November 1521, he killed Dragos and seized control of the Butchers. He claimed leadership of the House the next day. Maria and the other children refused to recognize him, beginning the [[1521 Ionuț succession crisis]]. Mihai asked each affiliated household whether it accepted Grozav's claim. Stefan persuaded Butchers commanders to abandon Grozav. Elena removed the main register and two House seals from the family home. Irina carried meeting instructions and returned the households' responses. Grozav lost control on 18 December 1521.<ref name="succession-crisis"/>
