== History == Olt County developed in the southern Romanian lands around the Olt River and the road system between Wallachian towns, Danube crossings, and rural settlements. The Olt River gave the county its name and remained its main geographic marker. The county's position between Oltenia and Muntenia made it part of the wider history of Wallachia. Slatina became the administrative centre of the county and later developed as its main industrial city.
