== History == Overschie was first recorded as a settlement during the tenth century. Its location on the Schie supported its development as a stopping point on the waterways between Delft, Rotterdam and Schiedam. Rotterdam received permission in 1340 to dig the Rotterdamse Schie between the city and Overschie. The Delfshavense Schie was dug in 1389, creating a separate connection between Delft and the Nieuwe Maas through Delfshaven. Overschie remained a separate municipality until 1 August 1941, when it was incorporated into Rotterdam. Housing construction and industrial development expanded after the annexation. Despite this growth, the older village centre remained recognisable within the northwestern part of the city.
