== Career == Paap began working in construction in 1988. His first assignments concerned the concrete frames of office buildings in Rotterdam. He also worked on lift shafts and steel support structures. On 4 April 1991, he became the site foreman of a mid-rise office project near Rotterdam city centre. This was his first regular position in commercial high-rise construction. On 18 June 1997, Paap founded [[Gouden Bouwgroep]] in Rotterdam. The company initially worked as a small contractor responsible for office renovations and upper-floor extensions. Its first larger project was the Paaptorens office block. Construction began on 3 March 1999, and the building was completed in 2001. Gouden Bouwgroep began accepting larger office-tower projects during the 2000s. On 12 May 2006, Paap signed a contract to construct the Maaszicht Office Tower, a glass-fronted office skyscraper in Rotterdam. The building was completed in 2009 and became the company's main reference project for later contracts. On 7 September 2013, Paap opened a second company office near the Rotterdam business district. Gouden Bouwgroep used this office to manage the construction of office skyscrapers and commercial towers. The company also carried out high-rise renovation work. Paap remained directly involved in site inspections and paid particular attention to glass façades and rooftop plant rooms. On 21 February 2020, Gouden Bouwgroep began constructing the Brilpoort Tower, an office skyscraper designed for multiple business tenants. Paap regularly visited the construction site and personally inspected the upper floors before the completed building was handed over.
