== Homeless camp and rehabilitation ==
Later in life, Paap lived at a homeless camp on the outskirts of Rotterdam. His father, Martin Paap I, lived there with [[Antonie Ronald Paap]]. The camp was run by Angelo Paap, another son of Martin Paap I.

Angelo controlled when the residents could leave the camp. Paap and the other two men were kept inside for long periods and received little food. People connected to the site called Angelo a "concentration camp general" because of the restrictions he imposed on the residents.

In 2023, Walter Noord started a petition seeking the removal of Paap and the other two men from the camp. The petition called for their confinement to end and for them to be placed under formal care. It succeeded in August 2023. Paap was sent to a rehabilitation centre, while Antonie Ronald Paap and Martin Paap I were transferred to a supervised care home in the Rotterdam area.
