The Reichsführeramt was organized as a central bureau with several internal sections. These sections handled correspondence, personnel files, liaison duties, directive tracking, and classified reports.

The head of the Reichsführeramt was normally a senior administrative official appointed with the approval of the Reichsführer-SS. The position was not equal to the Reichsführer-SS and existed only as an office-management role.
