== Voluntary surrender and tribunal proceedings ==

The command structure of the Bucharest Butchers collapsed during May 2025 after attacks against its leadership and the loss of protection previously supplied by the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen.<ref name="butchers-downfall"/> Carter did not attempt to leave Romania while members of the organization were being detained. On 7 May 2025, he voluntarily entered a police station in Bucharest and surrendered himself to the authorities. Investigators subsequently examined his delivery work and his participation in the Brussels weapons shipment.

Proceedings against Carter began before the Bucharest Tribunal on 24 June 2025. He admitted that he had knowingly transported firearms for the Bucharest Butchers and had carried a handgun during his assignments. On 27 June, the tribunal convicted him of participation in an organized criminal group and firearms trafficking. It entered further convictions for firearms smuggling and the unlawful possession and transport of firearms. The tribunal did not attribute murder or extortion to Carter and considered his voluntary surrender when imposing a sentence of three years' imprisonment. His sentence is scheduled to end on 27 June 2028.

During the proceedings, Carter described himself as "a night driver for the wrong people". He stated that he would refuse the recruitment offer if it were made again and said that he had turned his life around. Carter also said that he had followed Petru Ionuț's warning by remaining a Curier because seeking a higher rank would have required him to kill people.
