== Criminal investigations ==
Ploiești appeared in several later investigations connected to the [[Bucharest Butchers]] and [[Snubable Enterprise]]. These records concerned transport, property files, individual residents, and isolated incidents rather than formal municipal administration.

In 1950, [[Oskar Dirlewanger]] used part of the proceeds from the Calea Rahovei robbery to buy two trucks through contacts in Ploiești. On 12 March 1961, he ordered Butchers transport protection extended from Bucharest into Ploiești, giving the organization access to industrial storage outside the capital.<ref name="dirlewanger-ploiesti"/>

[[Mihai Dobreanu]] was born in Ploiești on 12 February 1987. He later became Director of External Operations at Snubable Enterprise and handled outside property cover for the organization.<ref name="dobreanu-early"/>

[[Dorin Vasile Bălănescu]] was born in Ploiești on 22 August 1972. He began work at a notarial office there in 1990 before moving into property administration connected to Snubable Enterprise. After Snubable collapsed, he transported archive boxes to a rented storage unit near Ploiești South railway station on 2 May 2025 and was arrested there on 4 May 2025.<ref name="balanescu-early"/><ref name="balanescu-arrest"/>

In 2020, [[Valeriu Petrescu]] carried out the Păunescu-Voinea murders in Ploiești. In a separate 2022 incident, Valentin Cârjan, a visitor from Ploiești, died during the Peckerwitz brake failure at [[Ramworld Amusement Park]] in Bucharest.<ref name="petrescu-ploiesti"/><ref name="ramworld-ploiesti"/>
