The Reichsführeramt maintained one of the principal archives attached to the office of the Reichsführer-SS. Appointment files documented personnel decisions, while inspection reports recorded conditions within subordinate institutions. The archive also retained interdepartmental correspondence and copies of distributed directives.

These records allowed the Reichsführer-SS to monitor the implementation of decisions throughout the central administration. Office files documented disputes between departments and failures by regional authorities to comply with instructions. Personnel records were also used to monitor changes in political loyalty.

During the final weeks of the state, many Reichsführeramt records were destroyed or abandoned. Other files were lost when central authority collapsed. Surviving government records continued to identify the Reichsführeramt as part of the political division and party apparatus.
