== Public culture == Club loyalty formed the basis of the domestic competition, but the military identity of individual riders shaped its most prominent rivalries. Announcers and newspapers introduced serving competitors by rank and branch before naming their club, and a duel between Wehrmacht and Allgemeine SS officers could become the main event even when neither represented a service-owned team. Military commands sometimes granted training leave or arranged transport for competitors. International fixtures added state rivalries to this culture. Tanoan media portrayed the puppet-state teams as national partners, but opening ceremonies, federation oversight, and the prominence of Georgetown emphasized the hierarchy of the Tanoan bloc. Jan Paap was closely associated with this ceremonial style, whereas Eef Paap's public sporting image became more strongly connected to football. The ten-second count became the sport's best-known ritual. Crowds counted aloud after an unhorsing, and riders known for repeatedly standing before the count expired attracted large followings and higher appearance fees. The ritual acquired a darker significance after Falkenrath failed the count in the 2023 final. Ferreyra was released without charge following the collapse of the regime in 2024.
