The BahnSchutzpolizei was a railway security force operating under the authority of the Ordnungspolizei. It was established in the 1960s during the early expansion of railway infrastructure connected to the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. == History == The BahnSchutzpolizei was formed in Argentina during the 1960s, at a time when railway networks were being expanded to support transport operations linked to Tanoa. Its initial headquarters was located in Comodoro Rivadavia, where it coordinated railway protection and logistical oversight. During the 1970s, as railway construction and resource transport on the island of Tanoa increased, the organization expanded its responsibilities. It gradually shifted its central command structure to Georgetown, which became its main headquarters. From there, it supervised railway policing, cargo security, and station control across the controlled territories. == Responsibilities == The BahnSchutzpolizei was responsible for: * Protection of railway lines, bridges, and tunnels * Security of cargo shipments, including industrial materials * Monitoring of railway workers and transport personnel * Enforcement of railway regulations issued by the regime * Investigation of sabotage or disruptions to rail infrastructure Personnel operated both in Argentina and on Tanoa, depending on operational requirements. == Organization == The organization functioned as a specialized railway division within the broader policing system. It maintained regional commands near major rail hubs and industrial corridors. Units were stationed along key transport routes, particularly those connected to mining, industrial, and administrative centers. == Prisoner transports and extrajudicial executions == After Eef Paap assumed leadership in 1980, the role of the BahnSchutzpolizei expanded beyond infrastructure security. From the 1980s onward, selected units became involved in covert prisoner transport operations in Argentina. Prisoners were at times placed on specially designated trains under BahnSchutzpolizei supervision. These trains would divert onto purpose-built detour tracks in remote areas of Patagonia. The sidings were constructed to avoid interference with regular passenger and freight traffic, allowing normal railway operations to continue without delay. At these isolated locations, detainees were executed without formal judicial procedure. The operations were classified internally as military security actions and were carried out in coordination with other branches of the regime’s security apparatus. These activities formed part of a broader system of repression that intensified during the post-1980 consolidation period under Eef Paap’s control. == Dissolution == The BahnSchutzpolizei ceased operations on 30 November 2024, following the collapse of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. Its remaining infrastructure and records were absorbed into post-regime administrative authorities. == See also == * Departments of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen * Ordnungspolizei * Tanoa SS organizations
