Tanoan medal for civilian wartime service The Civilian War Service Medal was a decoration of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen for civilian assignments in approved wartime production or essential services, including direct support to deployed forces. Its official names were Medalla de Servicios Civiles de Guerra in Spanish and Medaille für zivilen Kriegsdienst in German. It was established under Eef Paap's honours reform of 6 November 1987, with one class and clasps for qualifying conflicts. == Eligibility == Paid employees and volunteers were eligible. Foreigners could qualify through formal assignment to Tanoan service. Ordinary compulsory assignments could count, but prison labour and enslavement were excluded. Genuine qualifying duties carried no separate age floor. Paapjugend membership or preparatory training alone did not qualify, and formal military or SS service did not count as civilian employment. The Labour Ministry prepared schedules with the Oberkommando der Tanoa Einsatzgruppen and responsible departments for batch approval by the Führer. Each schedule identified a conflict and its qualifying duties, locations and service dates. Service abroad qualified if included in the schedule. Founding schedules could recognize documented assignments under Tanoan authority from 9 August 1944, but not earlier foreign service. == Qualifying service == The ordinary requirement was 180 credited days in one conflict. An approved schedule could set a shorter period for a short campaign, but personal merit did not waive the threshold. Continuous full-time assignments counted calendar days with normal rest days. Leave away from the assignment, unauthorized absence and unrelated duties were excluded. Part-time or intermittent service counted certified duty days. Periods could be combined within the same conflict, but not across wars, and each day counted once. Death or permanent disability caused by the duties waived the remaining period if it ended the assignment. This covered enemy action and duty-related accidents when medical records and service reports established the cause. Other posthumous awards required the normal period. == Award and clasps == Assignment authorities certified service records. The responsible ministry submitted the roll through the Labour Ministry, and the chancellery conferred the medal and clasps in the Führer's name. Cases were considered throughout the year without an annual quota. The chancellery checked the certified roll against earlier awards. A named bronze clasp identified each qualifying conflict, including the first. Separate qualification in another conflict earned its clasp on the same medal. More time in an already recognized war earned no further award. The same assignment could also qualify for the National Construction Cross under its separate requirements. The Medal carried no automatic payment or pension. == Insignia == The round bronze medal showed the state eagle holding a palm wreath containing a swastika. Its reverse bore Por servicios de guerra and Für Kriegsdienst. It hung on the left breast from a black ribbon with white edges and a narrow red centre stripe. Ribbon bars were plain for one conflict. For two or more, a bronze numeral showed the total number of qualifying conflicts. == See also == * Orders, decorations, and medals of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen == References == {{Reflist|refs= <ref name="names">"List of honours".
