'''The Early Foundation Era''' was the historical period from 1400 to 1799, preceding the [[Pre-Vader Era]]. It contains the earliest traceable foundations of later families and organizations.

The period includes the foundation of the [[Bucharest Butchers|Butchers]] and the [[House of Ionuț]] in [[Wallachia]]. During the eighteenth century, [[Lorenzo Nostrini]] established the Nostrini household in [[Calabria]], while the Nikolopoulos family migrated from the [[Peloponnese]] to the [[Dutch Republic]] and began the family line that adopted the Paap surname.<ref name="nostrini-foundation"/><ref name="paap-migration"/>

== Background ==
At the start of the period, the later principal families were not yet connected. The Ionuț history developed in Wallachia during the late fifteenth century, while the family lines later known as the [[Noord family|Noord]] and [[Paap family|Paap]] families were established separately in Calabria and the Dutch Republic during the eighteenth century.<ref name="house-foundation"/><ref name="nostrini-foundation"/><ref name="paap-migration"/>

=== 1496 ===
* [[Dragos Ionuț]] gave the Butchers network permanent membership in [[Bucharest]]. Individual crews retained their own commanders.<ref name="butchers-origins"/>

=== Late 1490s ===
* Dragos established the [[House of Ionuț]] as a self-proclaimed Wallachian house. He opened its register and used the title Sir Dragos I. Wallachian authorities did not recognize the House.<ref name="house-foundation"/>

=== 1521 ===
* November
** 23 November – [[Grozav Ionuț]] killed Dragos in Wallachia and seized the Butchers.<ref name="succession-conflict"/>
** 24 November – Grozav declared himself head of the House of Ionuț.<ref name="succession-conflict"/>
* December
** 2 December – [[Mihai Ionuț]] read the affiliated households' rejection of Grozav's claim. [[Stefan Ionuț]] began removing Butchers commanders who continued to recognize Grozav.<ref name="succession-conflict"/>
** 18 December – Stefan entered the main Butchers storehouse with crews that had changed sides. Grozav lost control of the organization and fled into the [[Holy Roman Empire]], ending the [[1521 Ionuț succession crisis]].<ref name="succession-conflict"/>

** 12 April – Mihai restored the House of Ionuț and became its head. Stefan remained leader of the Butchers.<ref name="house-restoration"/>

* Around 1770, [[Nikolaos Nikolopoulos]] and [[Despina Papadopoulou]] fled the Ottoman-controlled Peloponnese with their four surviving children during the suppression of the [[Orlov Revolt]]. The household eventually reached the Dutch Republic.<ref name="paap-migration"/>

=== Late 18th century ===
* After settling in the Dutch Republic, [[Martinos Nikolopoulos]] recorded the name Paap in the [[Book of Paap]]. His descendants gradually adopted Paap as a hereditary surname.<ref name="paap-surname"/>
