Japan is an island country in East Asia. It lies in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, east of the Asian mainland. Tokyo is the capital and largest city. Japan is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary government. It is one of the main states of the Pacific region and has a large industrial economy. In the Second World War, Japan formed part of the Axis alliance with Nazi Germany and Italy. Japan is also the country where Laurens Paap lived during his drifting career. Kurokasa Mansion, the Japanese estate of Glöbbery, stood near Mount Fuji. == Geography == Japan is formed by a long island chain on the western edge of the Pacific Ocean. Honshu is the largest island and contains Tokyo. The Japanese islands lie near several tectonic boundaries. The country has frequent earthquakes and several active volcanic areas. Mount Fuji is the best known mountain in Japan and stands west of Tokyo. Japan's position gives it direct access to Pacific sea routes. Its ports developed around coastal trade and later became important to the country's modern economy. == History == Japan developed as an island state with an imperial line and a long period of warrior rule. The country became a modern centralized state after the Meiji Restoration in the nineteenth century. Imperial Japan expanded its military reach in East Asia and the Pacific during the first half of the twentieth century. In the Second World War, Japan fought as an Axis power with Nazi Germany and Italy. The war ended for Japan in 1945 after Allied victory in the Pacific. After 1945, Japan adopted a post-war constitution. The emperor remained as a constitutional figure, while political authority moved through parliamentary government. == Government == Japan is a constitutional monarchy. The emperor holds a ceremonial position, while the prime minister and cabinet exercise executive authority. The National Diet is the national legislature. Local government is organized through prefectures. == Economy and transport == Japan has a large industrial economy. Vehicle manufacturing became one of its best known industries. Japanese cars later became important in tuning garages and drift racing. The country has a dense rail system and major seaports. Tokyo and Yokohama form one of the main urban areas of Japan. == Motorsport == Japan has a large car culture and drift racing scene. Laurens Paap moved to Japan in 1986 and settled in the wider Tokyo area. He first worked at a tuning garage in Yokohama before entering local drift events. Paap later won several Japanese drifting competitions. His best known car was a pink Toyota Chaser JZX100. He lived in Hinohara, a village in western Tokyo, with Yui Nakamura. Yui Nakamura was born in Tokyo on 12 September 1974. She worked as a garage bookkeeper in Yokohama and met Laurens Paap there in 1996. == Glöbbery activity == Kurokasa Mansion was the Japanese estate of Glöbbery near Mount Fuji. It stood in a private area near the Fuji Five Lakes region in Yamanashi Prefecture. The mansion operated as a Glöbberian estate for members active in Japan and the Pacific region. Its files later tied Japanese financial members to the World Economic Order. The Death Train route network included a line from the Swiss hub to Kurokasa Mansion. The route was later calculated at about 9,626 km from the Swiss hub to the Mount Fuji area. Kurokasa Mansion was closed on 22 February 2025 after its files were tied to the wider Glöbberian network. == See also == * East Asia * Pacific Ocean * Tokyo * Mount Fuji * Yui Nakamura * Laurens Paap * Kurokasa Mansion * Glöbbery * Death Train * Nazi Germany * Italy * Second World War
