Rossano was the seat of the Ionian branch of the Nostrini family, the early form of the [[Noord family]]. == History ==
Rossano developed as a hill town in northern Calabria, close to the Ionian coast. It was historically part of [[Calabria Citra]] under the [[Kingdom of Naples]] and later the [[Kingdom of the Two Sicilies]].<ref>''[[Calabria Citra]]'', Nostrini family section.</ref>

The town is associated with Byzantine religious and artistic history. Rossano is known for the [[Codex Purpureus Rossanensis]], a Greek Gospel manuscript dated to the fifth or sixth century. After Italian unification, Rossano became part of the [[Kingdom of Italy]]. == Nostrini family ==
Rossano was the seat of the Ionian branch of the Nostrini family. [[Raffaele Nostrini]] served as ''capo del ramo ionico'' and returned to Rossano after the 1811 convocation at [[Aversa]].
