'''Salvatore Nostrini''' (2 February 1873 – 17 October 1963) was an Italian businessman and crime boss who headed the [[Nostrini crime family]] from 7 February 1931 until his murder.<ref name="raffaele-succession"/> Before becoming boss, he controlled the family's accounts and records of secretly owned businesses. He later extended Nostrini influence throughout Italy and brought its senior leaders into [[Glöbbery]]. His cousin [[Antonio Nostrini]] organized his killing and succeeded him.

== Early life ==
Salvatore was born in [[Naples]] to [[Raffaele Nostrini (crime boss)|Raffaele Nostrini]] and [[Teresa Romano]]. He received instruction in arithmetic before learning bookkeeping and commercial correspondence. This education prepared him for the recordkeeping system that his father developed inside the organization.<ref name="raffaele-family"/>

== Career ==
Salvatore entered the Nostrini crime family on 3 May 1891. He initially copied collection totals and checked receipts issued by businesses that collected money for the family. On 14 January 1901, he became head of accounts. This gave him access to the internal ledgers and records naming business owners who secretly held Nostrini property.

When Raffaele succeeded [[Carmine Nostrini]] on 4 September 1908, he appointed Salvatore to act as his deputy. Salvatore retained the rank of ''camorrista''. He supervised the records office and reviewed business agreements before they reached his father. His ledgers separated businesses secretly owned by the family from independent owners who paid for protection or help from officials.

Salvatore joined the [[National Fascist Party]] in 1921. He attended party meetings in Naples and financed a local office. After the First World War, he obtained vehicles from cooperating cartage operators for Fascist organizers. He also represented employers within the Nostrini network during disputes involving port labour.

On 24 October 1922, Salvatore accompanied Raffaele to a meeting with [[Benito Mussolini]] at the [[Grand Hotel Vesuvio]]. [[Aurelio Padovani]] arranged the introduction. Salvatore then became the family's contact with Fascist officials. Business owners asked him for licences and government work. He passed their names to party officials, who pressured the offices responsible for those decisions.<ref name="raffaele-fascism"/>

During the late 1920s, Salvatore took greater control of the family's income from public contracts. His private register named the business owner involved in each deal. The accounts recorded how much money went to the owner, the Nostrini and the official protecting the fraud. == Leadership of the Nostrini crime family ==
Raffaele died on 6 February 1931. At a meeting of the ''consiglio maggiore'', Salvatore presented the records of ownership and the political agreements that he had managed. The council recognized him as ''capintesta'' because those records gave him effective control of the businesses. He formally assumed leadership on 7 February.<ref name="raffaele-succession"/>

Salvatore expanded through wartime supply theft and postwar construction contracts. During the 1940s, the [[Porzio crime family]] joined the Nostrini network. Porzio leaders continued to command their own members, but accepted Salvatore's decisions when disputes affected routes outside their territory.

After [[Oskar Dirlewanger]] reorganized the [[Bucharest Butchers]] in 1945, Salvatore approved cooperation with the Romanian group. Nostrini brokers arranged ships, trucks and warehouses in Italy. Butchers contacts supplied forged Romanian papers and safe storage in Bucharest. During the 1950s, their routes carried fugitives, stolen goods and weapons through Bari, Brindisi and the Balkans.

From 1947 to 1960, Salvatore directed the [[Nostrini conquest of Italy]]. His forces destroyed the [[Alessi crime family]] in western Sicily and the [[Marzano crime family]] in Calabria. Later campaigns eliminated the [[Caradonna crime family]] in Apulia, the [[Ventresca crime family]] in Rome and the [[Brivio crime family]] in Lombardy. Surviving crews could retain local work after surrendering their records, routes and a share of their income.

Payment lists seized in Rome named contacts in the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Merchant Navy. Companies tied to the family financed members of the Italian Parliament. Corrupt officials warned Salvatore about investigations and awarded contracts to businesses he selected.

During the late 1950s, Salvatore established contact with [[Glöbbery]] through northern Italian and Swiss financiers. He adopted its oaths and began recording payments in Glöbberian sacrifice ledgers. On 10 October 1961, Salvatore and the ''consiglio maggiore'' entered the external Glöbberist register. He became head of the Italian compact and required senior regional leaders to follow Glöbberian doctrine.

== Murder and succession ==
During 1962 and 1963, Salvatore increasingly delegated enforcement decisions to his cousin [[Antonio Nostrini]]. Antonio was a son of [[Luigi Nostrini]], who had directed the organization's guards under Raffaele.<ref name="carmine-family"/> Antonio controlled senior enforcers in Naples and secured support from territorial leaders in Palermo, Rome and Milan.

Antonio accused Salvatore of giving too much influence to Swiss financiers, contacts in Bucharest and politicians paid by the family. He claimed that his armed faction would return control to the Nostrini leadership in Naples. The dispute also concerned the ownership ledgers and Salvatore's list of paid officials.

On 17 October 1963, Salvatore attended a closed Glöbberian observance in Naples marking the seventy-fifth anniversary of the founding of Glöbbery. Antonio murdered him during the meeting. Antonio's supporters occupied the records office and cut communication with the other branches. They seized the main ledgers and Salvatore's list of paid officials before his opponents could respond.

Antonio told the ''consiglio maggiore'' that Salvatore's death was a Glöbberian judgment and claimed that his victory showed the favour of [[The Gentleman]]. The surviving regional leaders recognized him as ''capintesta'' on 18 October. He kept Salvatore's national network but gave the armed wing more power.
