The '''Schutzpolizei''' was the main urban uniformed police branch of the [[Ordnungspolizei]]. It conducted routine policing in cities and larger towns within territories controlled by the [[Tanoa Einsatzgruppen]]. Officers patrolled populated districts, maintained public order and enforced residency rules. The Schutzpolizei was established in 1970 during the organization of the Ordnungspolizei. Its creation placed urban policing under a standardized command structure based in [[Georgetown]] and [[Comodoro Rivadavia]]. The force became the police branch most regularly encountered by civilians because its officers carried out daily patrols and administrative inspections in cities. During the 2000s and early 2010s, it introduced coordinated patrol systems and centralized reporting procedures. Urban surveillance was expanded, while cooperation with the [[Sicherheitspolizei]] increased during operations that extended beyond routine patrol work.<ref name="sipo-establishment"/><ref name="sipo-scope"/> In the final years of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen, Schutzpolizei units participated in population monitoring and coordinated enforcement operations within cities. == Organization and duties ==

The Schutzpolizei operated through city precincts and district commands. Each district reported to a regional Ordnungspolizei headquarters, which answered to the central command. Officers followed standardized ranks and uniform regulations. Their equipment was lighter than that issued to central Ordnungspolizei operational units, but included service weapons and vehicles used for patrol duties. The [[Gemeinden der Schutzpolizei]], established in 1971, formed the municipal level of the organization. Officers conducted foot and vehicle patrols within urban districts. They supervised public gatherings and maintained checkpoints within city limits. During periods of unrest, other police and security units reinforced its formations. == Human rights abuses ==

Schutzpolizei officers used excessive force during arrests and crowd-control operations. Detainees were physically abused, curfew violations were punished harshly and public assemblies were dispersed through violence. Urban security operations also included forced removals and aggressive searches. Although disciplinary codes existed, complaints were not consistently investigated and misconduct frequently went unpunished during large operations. Municipal units carried out forced arrests and helped identify people who were later transferred to prisons or labour facilities.<ref name="gemeinden-abuses"/>
