Nostrini founded the [[Nostrini crime family]] in Naples on 9 September 1863. The group grew out of Giuseppe Nostrini's adult club business and became active in prostitution operations, paid protection, political bribery, and control over private rooms near the port district.

Carmine Nostrini was born on 3 February 1825 in [[Rossano]], then part of the [[Kingdom of the Two Sicilies]]. He belonged to the Ionian branch of the Nostrini family. Nostrini began instruction in Rossano on 12 October 1831. His education covered handwriting, arithmetic, lease copying, and port correspondence. On 3 February 1843, after turning eighteen, he began carrying letters between the Rossano household and Giuseppe Nostrini's Naples contacts.

== Career ==
Nostrini moved to Naples on 18 April 1849. He first worked as a clerk for his father's rooms near the port district. His duties placed him between the Rossano branch papers and the Naples adult club income. By 7 June 1856, he had taken control of daily payments from two of Giuseppe Nostrini's clubs.

Naples had a developed criminal setting in the nineteenth century. The Camorra grew to power there during that period and became known for extortion, blackmail, smuggling, and other organized criminal activity.<ref name="camorra">[https://www.britannica.com/topic/Camorra "Camorra"]. On 9 September 1863, Nostrini formed the [[Nostrini crime family]] with relatives, club guards, port runners, and debt collectors. The group operated around the port district, the Mercato quarter, and the streets linking adult clubs to taverns and lodging houses. Its income came from brothel rooms, forced payments from nearby businesses, gambling debts, and bribes paid to protect the clubs from closure.

After the [[Kingdom of Italy]] was established, Nostrini expanded through front managers rather than open ownership. On 14 March 1872, he placed his eldest son, [[Raffaele Nostrini (crime boss)|Raffaele Nostrini]], in charge of club collections. On 6 August 1876, he sent [[Vincenzo Nostrini]] to manage gambling payments near the port. By 3 November 1884, the group controlled private-room payments and protection arrangements in several Naples streets.

Political corruption became a regular part of the family business after the 1880s. Nostrini paid municipal clerks, police intermediaries, and election agents to protect club licences, delay inspections, and secure local support for candidates who tolerated his operation. The payments made the adult clubs harder to close and allowed the group to keep operating after Giuseppe Nostrini's death on 18 November 1897.

Nostrini remained head of the group until his death. He kept final authority over club disputes, gambling debts, protection payments, and the selection of front managers.

[[Vincenzo Nostrini]] was born on 7 December 1850 and handled gambling payments near the port. [[Beatrice Nostrini Ferrara|Beatrice Nostrini]] was born on 14 May 1853 and married warehouse clerk Antonio Ferrara on 9 October 1871. [[Luigi Nostrini]] was born on 30 August 1856 and worked as a club guard.

[[Michele Nostrini]] was born on 12 January 1859 and kept debt records for the group. [[Adelina Nostrini Russo|Adelina Nostrini]] was born on 4 April 1862 and married tavern owner Salvatore Russo on 18 February 1880. Rosalia Esposito died in Naples on 3 March 1891. Nostrini did not remarry. Family measurements recorded his height as 1.84 m.
