During the Dutch Revolt, William the Silent lived at the former Sint-Agathaklooster, now the Prinsenhof. [[Balthasar Gérard]] shot him there on 10 July 1584. William was buried in the [[Nieuwe Kerk]], which later became the burial church of the Dutch royal family.
