The '''Gendarmerie''' (German: ''Gendarmerie der Ordnungspolizei'') was the rural police branch of the [[Ordnungspolizei]]. It operated in villages, plantations, transport corridors, and remote settlements under the authority of the [[Tanoa Einsatzgruppen]].

It was established in 1974 during the period of territorial expansion and infrastructure development. The unit remained active until the collapse of the regime on 30 November 2024.
