Francesco Nostrini (19 May 1783 – 26 January 1842) was an Italian land agent and branch head of the Nostrini family. He served as capo del ramo tirrenico during the Convocazione Settentrionale della Famiglia Nostrini, held from 23 to 30 April 1811 at the Casa di San Michele in Aversa.[1]
Nostrini represented Tyrrhenian coastal property claims during the succession dispute after the death of Domenico Nostrini. He opposed Vittorio Nostrini at first, then accepted the final settlement after the agreement preserved local agents for the remaining Calabrian property.[1] He is listed among the Pre-Vader Era members of the Noord family.[2]
Early life and education
Francesco Nostrini was born on 19 May 1783 in Paola, then part of Calabria Citra in the Kingdom of Naples. He belonged to the Tyrrhenian branch of the Nostrini family.
Nostrini began private instruction in Paola on 3 October 1790. On 7 November 1795, he entered the Seminario arcivescovile di Cosenza as an external lay pupil. He left the seminary on 28 June 1799 and began notarial training under Antonio Greco in Paola on 16 September 1799. His training focused on coastal property deeds and inheritance papers.
Career
Nostrini entered branch service on 14 March 1803 as an assistant land agent for the Tyrrhenian branch. His work dealt with rent papers, coastal property claims, and branch correspondence sent between Paola and the senior household in Cosenza.
After the reforms in the Kingdom of Naples in 1806, the Nostrini household reviewed land papers and inheritance claims. On 17 August 1806, Nostrini was appointed procuratore del ramo tirrenico. The appointment gave him authority to speak for the Tyrrhenian branch in property matters before the 1811 succession dispute.
On 10 November 1809, Nostrini became capo del ramo tirrenico. After Domenico Nostrini died on 18 November 1810, Nostrini joined the branch representatives called to Aversa by Vittorio Nostrini. The delegates arrived on 21 April 1811, and the convocation opened at the Casa di San Michele on 23 April 1811.[1]
During the family council from 23 to 27 April 1811, Nostrini argued against the immediate transfer of authority away from Calabria. His objection centered on the Tyrrhenian branch’s coastal property claims. The final vote was held on 28 April 1811. Nostrini accepted the settlement after it preserved local agents for the remaining Calabrian property. The final act was signed on 30 April 1811.[1]
Nostrini remained head of the Tyrrhenian branch after the convocation. He kept the older Nostrini surname in local papers while the moving northern branches began using the Norte form after 1811. He retired from daily branch work on 6 April 1839.
Personal life
Nostrini married Caterina Greco on 21 May 1812 at the Chiesa di San Francesco di Paola in Paola. They had two children, Marco Nostrini and Elena Nostrini.
His height was 1.77 m. He lived in Paola for most of his adult life and continued to use the Nostrini surname after the northern branch began using Norte.
Death
Nostrini died on 26 January 1842 in Paola, then part of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. He was 58 years old.
