Middle Eye
Middle Eye was the central symbol of Glöbbery. It represented the all-seeing eye of The Gentleman and appeared across Glöbberian records, seals, rooms, membership documents, and ritual objects.
Within Glöbbery, the Middle Eye was treated as both a symbol and a religious authority. Glöbberists believed that The Gentleman saw every oath, payment, betrayal, and sacrifice through the Middle Eye.
Role in Glöbbery
[edit | edit source]Glöbbery was founded on 17 October 1888 at Festung Glöbbelhart. One of the four founding documents of the order was the rule of the Middle Eye. The other founding documents were the oath to The Gentleman, the register of members and obligations, and the ledger of payments and sacrifices.
The Middle Eye stood below The Gentleman in the Glöbberian hierarchy. It was described as his all-seeing eye and as the sign of his presence over the order.
The symbol appeared in ritual rooms, private records, sealed documents, membership papers, and objects used by Glöbberists. It marked the idea that no oath or betrayal was hidden from The Gentleman.
Symbol
[edit | edit source]The Middle Eye was usually shown as a single eye inside a red ring. A black cane was placed beneath the eye, with a sealed document below the cane.
The eye represented sight and judgment. The red ring connected it to the sealed oath system of Glöbbery. The cane linked it to the rank and command of The Gentleman. The sealed document represented the contract that remained binding after it was accepted.
Doctrine
[edit | edit source]Glöbberian doctrine preserved several short statements about the Middle Eye:
- The Middle Eye is merely a tool of The Gentleman.
- The Gentleman obeys the Middle Eye.
- The Middle Eye is the Misleading Eye.
- The Middle Eye is the One.
These statements gave the Middle Eye a paradoxical place inside Glöbbery. It was presented as a tool of The Gentleman, but also as something that The Gentleman obeyed. The contradiction was treated as part of the order's religious structure rather than as a normal chain of command.
The title Misleading Eye described the Middle Eye as a symbol that could conceal as well as reveal. Glöbberists connected it to hidden decisions, false appearances, and the belief that outsiders could not understand the true structure of the order.
The phrase the One gave the Middle Eye a central status inside Glöbberian symbolism. It did not replace The Gentleman as the supreme figure, but it marked the Middle Eye as the single sign through which his presence was recognized.
Hierarchy
[edit | edit source]The highest figure in Glöbbery was The Gentleman. Below him was the Middle Eye. Beneath The Gentleman and the Middle Eye was the Ghost Parliament, a demonic body that Glöbberists believed enforced hidden decisions and punished betrayal.
The highest human religious office was the direct messenger of The Gentleman. This office came from the Schwammelwanger family and linked human Glöbberists to The Gentleman, the Middle Eye, and the Ghost Parliament.
Exposure
[edit | edit source]Glöbbery was publicly identified on 3 December 2024 after internal references were found in seized Tanoan files. The exposure showed the Middle Eye as one of the main symbols of the order.
On 18 May 2026, Glöbbery was declared destroyed. After the order's destruction, the Middle Eye remained in records about its hierarchy, symbols, oaths, and ritual law.
