Hotel Rogganoid was a luxury resort in Băneasa, on the northern edge of Bucharest, Romania. It was owned by Rasmus Rogganoid, a member of the Rogganoid family. The resort opened on 17 April 1998 and was destroyed on 9 June 2014 in an attack by Jibbut Snagov. Romanian police later presented the destruction as a gas explosion.
History
[edit | edit source]Hotel Rogganoid opened on 17 April 1998 in the Băneasa area of Bucharest. Rasmus Rogganoid owned the resort as a Rogganoid family property.
On 13 May 2011, Rasmus paid €4.8 million to Snubable Enterprise for the creation of the R-Series, a limited edition series of clones made from him. The clones were manufactured from 3 September 2011 to 28 November 2012.
The R-Series clones were placed at Hotel Rogganoid on 12 January 2013. They ran the resort staff and handled the daily running of the hotel.
Contract breach
[edit | edit source]Rasmus Rogganoid broke his agreement with Snubable Enterprise on 4 March 2014, when the hotel began advertising the R-Series clones as part of the resort. Snubable Enterprise did not want public attention on the clones.
By May 2014, visitors were coming to Hotel Rogganoid partly to see the R-Series clones working there. The advertising made the clones visible outside their intended use and made the resort a public problem for Snubable Enterprise.
Destruction
[edit | edit source]Hotel Rogganoid was destroyed on 9 June 2014 in an attack by Jibbut Snagov. Snagov attacked the resort to kill the R-Series clones and stop their use as a public attraction.
The attack used hidden explosive charges brought into the resort through the service area. The first blast hit the lower service section and damaged the internal systems of the building. Fire then moved upward through shafts, stairs, and service corridors.
Rasmus Rogganoid was on an upper floor when the fire reached him. The damaged lower structure gave way soon after, and the upper floors collapsed. Heavy concrete fell onto him and killed him. When the site was cleared, only parts of his body were found.
The attack killed everyone inside the resort, including Rasmus Rogganoid and the R-Series clones working there. After the explosion and collapse, Hotel Rogganoid ceased to operate. The building was not rebuilt.
Official explanation
[edit | edit source]On 10 June 2014, Romanian police described the destruction of Hotel Rogganoid as a gas explosion caused by damage to the building's internal utility systems. The public explanation did not identify Jibbut Snagov, Snubable Enterprise, or the R-Series clones as part of the incident.
The gas explosion explanation became the official account of the hotel's destruction.
