Matteo Nostrini (4 December 1782 – 22 January 1859) was an Italian estate administrator from the Nostrini family, the early form of the Noord family. He served as amministratore dei beni of the family and presented the estate accounts during the Convocazione Settentrionale della Famiglia Nostrini in April 1811.[1]
Early life and education
[edit | edit source]Matteo Nostrini was born on 4 December 1782 in Cosenza, then part of the Kingdom of Naples. He belonged to the Calabrian side of the Nostrini family, which handled property accounts and branch obligations before the 1811 relocation settlement.[2]
Nostrini began private instruction in Cosenza on 8 June 1791. On 20 October 1795, he entered the Seminario arcivescovile di Cosenza as an external lay pupil. He left the seminary on 27 July 1799. On 5 January 1801, after reaching the age of eighteen, he began training under a Cosenza land-survey clerk and learned estate measurement, rent calculation, and account copying.
Career
[edit | edit source]Nostrini entered the Casa Nostrini accounts office on 11 September 1801. His early work dealt with tenancy rolls, rent balances, and copied property schedules used by the Calabrian branch.
After the property reviews that followed the reforms in the Kingdom of Naples in 1806, Nostrini was asked to compare the southern estate accounts with the claims made by the northern branch. On 12 August 1808, Vittorio Nostrini appointed him amministratore dei beni, giving him responsibility for the accounts that were later brought to Aversa.
Nostrini arrived at the Casa di San Michele in Aversa on 21 April 1811. During the sittings of 23–27 April, he presented the estate accounts before the family council. He supported Vittorio Nostrini's relocation plan and accepted the final act signed on 30 April 1811.[1]
After the convocation, Nostrini remained at Aversa and prepared the transfer schedule for property papers sent from Calabria. The first completed schedule was filed on 22 July 1811. Between 1812 and 1819, he signed formal account papers as Nostrini while the moving branches began using Norte in northern records. His work helped keep the Calabrian property income separate from the accounts of the branches that relocated north.[3]
Nostrini continued as property administrator during the early Norte period. On 6 April 1857, he transferred daily account duties to the Aversa office and retained review authority over older property ledgers.
Personal life
[edit | edit source]On 14 February 1809, Nostrini married Maddalena Ricci at Cosenza Cathedral. Their daughter, Elena Nostrini, was born in Cosenza on 3 January 1811 and died there on 16 February 1812.
After the 1811 settlement, Ricci remained in Cosenza while Nostrini lived mainly at the Casa di San Michele in Aversa. On 3 March 1813, the couple separated their household property through an agreement accepted by the Aversa branch. Ricci died in Cosenza on 2 July 1842.
Death
[edit | edit source]Matteo Nostrini died on 22 January 1859 at the Casa di San Michele in Aversa, Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. He was 76 years old.
