Mihai Ionuț (born 1 January 1990) is a Romanian former garbage-collection company owner and convicted member of the Bucharest Butchers. He established a garbage-collection company in 2007 but was forced out by Marku Ionuț in 2010, after which he became a data-entry clerk for the Butchers and was listed among its Cutthroats.[1][2] Following the organization's collapse, Mihai was arrested on 8 May 2025 and sentenced by the Bucharest Tribunal to life imprisonment on 23 September 2025.[3]
Early life
[edit | edit source]Mihai was born in Bucharest on 1 January 1990. His father abandoned the family during his infancy. His mother raised him alone and rarely disciplined him. Other children bullied Mihai, and he avoided confrontations by agreeing with them or leaving.
In 2003, thirteen-year-old Mihai suffered a heart attack after prolonged masturbation while viewing hentai. A 19-year-old nurse sexually assaulted him during his hospitalization. Mihai lost consciousness during the abuse and remained in a coma for two months. The nurse assaulted him again after he regained consciousness and later became pregnant. In December 2003, she entered Mihai's home, drugged and restrained him, and sexually assaulted him over several days before leaving after her parents contacted her. She gave birth to a son in 2004.
Career
[edit | edit source]In 2007, aged seventeen, Mihai started an independent garbage-collection company in Bucharest. He owned the company and managed its collection schedules and customer payments. In 2010, Marku Ionuț forced Mihai to leave so that its contracts and collection routes could pass to Septicsolution, the waste-management company controlled by Snubable Enterprise.[2] Mihai complied and accepted a data-entry position with the Bucharest Butchers. He entered collection notes into its records and copied the payment figures attached to them. The records also identified the people named on each sheet.
The Butchers continued listing Mihai among the Cutthroats. Commanders limited him to record work, which carried no authority. He first began missing days. His records were left incomplete, and he eventually ceased reporting for work. The organization continued paying him an allowance because he belonged to the Ionuț family.
Personal life
[edit | edit source]Mihai never formed a relationship with the son born after the hospital abuse. He said that he did not want to see him and maintained that position after his son reached adulthood.
The nurse continued approaching Mihai for years and subjected him to further abuse. Mihai described her in derogatory terms that concentrated on her weight. He stopped trying to refuse her visits while continuing to say that he did not want them. After Andrei Ionuț became leader of the Bucharest Butchers in 2012, Mihai told him that he intended to kill himself if he could not escape her. Andrei arranged an apartment for him in Sector 4. Vladut Ionuț later killed the nurse and sexually abused her body.
Rubbish and food containers accumulated in the Sector 4 apartment. Mihai left his clothing unwashed and rarely went outside except to buy food. He spent most days playing video games, viewing pornography and hentai, or speaking to people online. He approached people with false friendliness and attempted to keep their attention through alternating insults and requests for reassurance. He regularly described himself as a failure and expressed disgust toward his body and life. When a conversation turned against him, he became submissive and degraded himself.
Arrest and imprisonment
[edit | edit source]Mihai remained in Sector 4 during the collapse of the Bucharest Butchers in May 2025. Investigators recovered internal records bearing his entries and allowance payments that continued after he stopped working. He was arrested on 8 May 2025 and brought into the Bucharest Tribunal process.
The tribunal treated his entries in the records and his receipt of payments after he stopped working as participation in the Bucharest Butchers. It sentenced him to life imprisonment on 23 September 2025. During detention, he repeatedly called himself useless and asked to be left alone.
