== Early life == Martin Gerard van Noord was born in Rotterdam on 11 April 1956. His father is [[Angelo van Noord]].<ref name="angelo-personal-life"/> Angelo expected him to be more disciplined, and the two frequently argued during Martin's teenage years. From 1970, Noord spent much of his free time with friends working on mopeds and older cars. Noord attended [[Ambachtsschool Sint-Joseph]] in [[Blijdorp]], where he studied electrical installation. After leaving school, he trained as a meter fitter.
