The Hotel Rogganoid bombing was an attack on Hotel Rogganoid in Băneasa, Bucharest, Romania, on 9 June 2014. The attack was carried out by Jibbut Snagov against the resort and the R-Series clones working there.

The bombing destroyed the resort and killed 47 people, including its owner Rasmus Rogganoid and 46 others. Romanian police publicly described the destruction as a gas explosion on 10 June 2014.

Background

Hotel Rogganoid opened on 17 April 1998 as a luxury resort owned by Rasmus Rogganoid, a member of the Rogganoid family.

On 13 May 2011, Rasmus Rogganoid paid €4.8 million to Snubable Enterprise for the creation of the R-Series. The R-Series was a limited edition clone series made from Rasmus as the genetic source. The clones were manufactured from 3 September 2011 to 28 November 2012.

The R-Series clones were placed at Hotel Rogganoid on 12 January 2013. They worked as the resort staff and handled the daily running of the hotel.

Contract breach

Rasmus Rogganoid broke his agreement with Snubable Enterprise on 4 March 2014 by advertising the R-Series clones as part of the resort. Snubable Enterprise did not want public attention on the clone series.

By May 2014, the clones had become part of the resort's public attraction. Visitors came to Hotel Rogganoid partly to see the R-Series clones working there. This made the resort a public problem for Snubable Enterprise and exposed the clone series outside its intended use.

Motive

Jibbut Snagov attacked Hotel Rogganoid to terminate the R-Series clones and stop their use as a public attraction. The bombing also ended the resort's public display of clones made through Snubable Enterprise.

Bombing

The bombing took place on 9 June 2014. Jibbut Snagov used hidden explosive charges brought into the resort through the service area. The first blast hit the lower service section and damaged the building's internal systems.

Fire moved upward through shafts, stairs, and service corridors after the explosion. The damaged lower structure then gave way, causing the upper floors to collapse into the central part of the resort.

Rasmus Rogganoid was on an upper floor when the fire reached that section of the building. He was killed when the upper floors collapsed and heavy concrete fell onto him. When the site was cleared, only parts of his body were found.

The attack killed 47 people inside the resort: Rasmus Rogganoid and 46 others. The dead included the R-Series clones working there.

Cover-up

On 10 June 2014, Romanian police described the destruction of Hotel Rogganoid as a gas explosion caused by damage to the building's internal utility systems. The public explanation did not identify Jibbut Snagov, Snubable Enterprise, or the R-Series clones as part of the incident.

The gas explosion explanation became the official public account of the resort's destruction.

Aftermath

Hotel Rogganoid ceased to operate after the bombing. The building was not rebuilt.

The attack ended the use of R-Series clones at the resort. It also removed the public attraction that had developed around their work at Hotel Rogganoid.
