The Führer of Tanoa was the supreme political and military office of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. The office was established on 9 August 1944, when the Argentine Einsatz reached Tanoa and was reorganized as the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. Jan Paap became the first Führer and remained in office until his retirement in January 1980. His son Eef Paap succeeded him and served until his death on 24 November 2024.[1][2][3]

No successor was appointed after Eef's death. The office remained vacant during the final six days of the regime and ended when the government of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen ceased to function on 30 November 2024.[4][5]

Jan Paap founded the Argentine Einsatz at Rada Tilly, Argentina, on 13 May 1944. He led the organization while it recruited personnel and prepared an expedition to Tanoa. The group departed from the Patagonian coast on 28 July and reached Ravi-Ta on 9 August 1944.[1][6]
