Kateryna Ivanivna Moroz (24 August 1985 – 10 May 2025) was a Ukrainian courier who worked in the support network of Arbëror Shpend Leka and Harku i Drenicës. She kept a courier notebook that later became part of the 2025 case against Leka during the Bucharest Tribunal process.[1][2]
Moroz was detained with Leka in Gjakova on 9 May 2025. She was moved from Gjakova to Pristina, transferred to Bucharest on 10 May 2025, and executed after conviction.[3]
Early life
Moroz was born in Uzhhorod, Ukraine, on 24 August 1985. She lived near the city's freight district and completed a vocational bookkeeping course in Uzhhorod on 30 June 2003. She later worked as a retail clerk near transport stops used by drivers crossing western Ukraine.
On 3 December 2006, Moroz met Arbëror Shpend Leka while working in a shop near a transport stop in western Ukraine. Leka took her from the shop and forced her into a relationship with him. She remained under his control and was gradually brought into his courier work.[1]
Work with Leka
Moroz entered Leka's network in 2007. On 17 March 2007, she travelled with a driver from Uzhhorod to Prizren while carrying commercial papers prepared by Leka. The papers presented one shipment as machine parts. Harku i Drenicës used that cover for storage work around Gjakova.[4]
On 18 April 2012, Leka assigned Moroz the keys for two Prizren apartments used by his drivers. On 7 September 2012, he gave her access to a house in the Dardania district of Gjakova.[1]
Moroz's work became more important after Leka expanded the Bucharest-facing channel. On 26 May 2015, she copied payment names from a rail movement ledger into a notebook kept in her possession. On 4 February 2018, she delivered a phone list from a Prizren broker to a driver waiting near Gjakova. The notebook later helped investigators match Leka's route records with Bucharest buyers.[5][2]
Final months

After the collapse of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen in November 2024, Leka lost several protected routes. The opening of the Bucharest Tribunal on 1 May 2025 increased pressure on external suppliers tied to the Bucharest Butchers.[2]
On 16 January 2025, Moroz moved Leka's contact phones from a Prizren apartment to the Dardania house in Gjakova. She delivered the spare safehouse keys to the same address. On 7 May 2025, she collected rail manifests at the house and placed her courier notebook with them.
On 9 May 2025, Moroz and Leka were detained at the Dardania house during a coordinated operation. The seizure included Moroz's notebook and route files from Leka's Bucharest channel.[3][6]
Death
Moroz and Leka were moved from Gjakova to Pristina after their detention. They were held overnight near Pristina International Airport and transferred by aircraft to Henri Coandă International Airport near Bucharest on 10 May 2025. The Bucharest Tribunal convicted them during its early May proceedings. Moroz and Leka were shot by firing squad in Bucharest on 10 May 2025.[3]
