Dimitrios Nikolopoulos (9 June 1754 – 1768) was a Greek member of the Nikolopoulos household, the family from which the Paap family later developed. He lived in the Ottoman-controlled Peloponnese and was killed by an Ottoman soldier in 1768 at the age of 14.[1]
Early life
[edit | edit source]Dimitrios was born in the Peloponnese to merchant Nikolaos Nikolopoulos and Despina Papadopoulou. He was raised in the family's Greek Orthodox household and was one of their eight children.[2]
His siblings included Martinos Nikolopoulos, Aikaterini Nikolopoulou, Georgios Nikolopoulos and Eleni Nikolopoulou. Dimitrios died before the surviving members of the household left the Peloponnese in 1770.
Death
[edit | edit source]In 1768, Dimitrios became involved in an argument with Ottoman soldiers near the family's settlement. The confrontation escalated and one of the soldiers shot and killed him. He was 14 years old.
His death occurred two years before the Nikolopoulos household fled the Peloponnese during the suppression of the Orlov Revolt.[1]
