Timeline

The Timeline divides history into six eras from 1400 to the present. The eras are used to separate broad historical periods according to the generations and developments that define them. Detailed events are covered on the individual era pages.

Eras

Early Foundation Era

The Early Foundation Era covers 1400–1759. It represents the earliest period in which the foundations of later families and organizations can be traced.

Stamvader Era

The Stamvader Era covers 1760–1879. It is the period in which the ancestral generations and family lines that later produced De Vaders became established. Its fixed start does not depend on the earliest ancestor currently documented.

Pre-Vader Era

The Pre-Vader Era covers 1880–1919. It follows the establishment of those ancestral lines and ends before the generation classified as the Vaders reached its main adult period.

Vader Era

The Vader Era covers 1920–1945. It corresponds to the main adult period of the generation classified as the Vaders. The era also covers the political and military conditions of the interwar period and the Second World War, which shaped much of that generation's later history.

Middenvader Era

The Middenvader Era covers 1946–1959. It is the transitional period between the Vader Era and the Vriend Era. The era covers the post-war years in which the older generation remained active while the conditions associated with the later Vriend Era were developing.

Vriend Era

The Vriend Era began in 1960 and remains the current era. It covers the generation associated with De Vrienden and the historical period that developed around them. Later generations and events remain part of the Vriend Era unless a new era boundary is established.
