De Vrienden

From the Vrienden Universe, a fictional wiki

De Vrienden refers to a group of five individuals whose long-standing personal association became foundational to the five principal families of the Vrienden Universe. The group formed during adolescence in the 1970s and remained connected across multiple decades, with their interactions influencing familial, cultural, and political developments in later periods.

Formation

[edit | edit source]

The earliest association within De Vrienden began in 1974, when Angelo Noord and Martin Paap became acquainted in the Netherlands at approximately 13–14 years of age. Their relationship formed the initial core of the group.

In early 1975, Imro van Hetten joined the group at the age of 18. Later that year, Lourens Schroeter, born in 1940 and the oldest of the five, became associated with the group. In 1976, Eef Hoos joined at the age of 20, completing the group of five.

At the time of full formation, the ages within the group ranged from early adolescence to early adulthood.

Early dynamics

[edit | edit source]

During the early years, informal roles emerged within the group. Angelo Noord was widely regarded as the primary initiator and organizer, citing his focus on documentation and structured thinking. Martin Paap was associated with momentum and initiative, while Imro van Hetten was often viewed as a stabilizing presence. Lourens Schroeter, as the oldest member, was commonly associated with logistical support and material provision. Eef Hoos joined later and integrated into the group as its fifth member.

Numerical associations

[edit | edit source]

By the late 1970s and early 1980s, numerical symbolism began to play a role in how the group perceived itself. Each member became associated with a number corresponding to their respective family.

Initially, Schroeter was regarded as the fourth member and Hoos as the fifth. However, when numerical identity became more formalized around 1980, this order was reversed, aligning the Hoos family with the number four and the Schroeter family with the number five.

These associations later influenced symbolic preferences and cultural distinctions, including attitudes toward numbering in regions such as Rotterdam-West and Rotterdam-Zuid.

Cultural activity

[edit | edit source]

During the late 1970s, members of De Vrienden began making music together. By the mid-1980s, they released music under the name De Lijers. Their work circulated primarily within associated family and regional circles.

In 1989, following the imprisonment of Eef Hoos, the remaining four members released a song titled Veroordeeld, which gained recognition among Hoos family members and related communities.

Later developments

[edit | edit source]

In 2007, Martin Paap was selected as the new leader of the Paap family following internal conflict in Rotterdam. His father had previously held this position. This transition increased the broader significance of De Vrienden as a collective reference point.

Angelo Noord documented these developments extensively, producing written records that were later compiled and finalized in 2017.

Between 2017 and 2019, tensions involving Rotterdam-Zuid escalated following Noord’s investigation into external influences. This inquiry led to Takistan, where Khalid bin Thani was identified as providing support to groups operating in southern regions of the Netherlands and Belgium.

A prolonged conflict followed, involving repeated travel and armed confrontations in Takistan. In 2018, Martin Paap sustained a severe gunshot wound and was treated by Imro van Hetten. He recovered fully after approximately seven months.

The conflict concluded in late 2019 with the signing of a neutrality agreement.

Tanoa period

[edit | edit source]

In 2021, Angelo Noord traveled to Tanoa and remained there for approximately one year, during which time he had no direct contact with the other four members. In personal documentation from this period, Noord reported observing Mark Hugerinus Paap in the jungles of Tanoa.

Travel

[edit | edit source]

From approximately 1980 until 2014, De Vrienden undertook frequent road trips together. Southern France was a common destination. These journeys are frequently referenced in later accounts as formative experiences reinforcing long-term cohesion among the group.

Legacy

[edit | edit source]

De Vrienden are regarded as the personal foundation linking the five principal families of the Vrienden Universe. Their long-term association, beginning in adolescence and continuing through major historical events, contributed to shared identity, symbolic structures, and cross-family continuity.
