Imro van Hetten (born 2 May 1956) is a Surinamese figure associated with the Van Hetten family and the third member of De Vrienden, joining the group after Martin Paap and before Eef Hoos. He is described in internal accounts as a stabilizing presence within the group and later became involved in inter-family and external conflicts.

Early life

Van Hetten was born on 2 May 1956 in Suriname. He later relocated to the Netherlands, where he became connected to the circle that would form the foundation of De Vrienden.

Formation of De Vrienden

In 1974, Angelo Noord and Martin Paap formed the initial core of what later became known as De Vrienden.

In early 1975, Imro van Hetten joined as the third member of the group. Later that year, Lourens Schroeter became associated with the group, and in 1976 Eef Hoos joined as the fifth member.

Within early group dynamics, Van Hetten was commonly viewed as a stabilizing presence. While Noord emphasized documentation and structure, and Paap was associated with initiative and momentum, Van Hetten was regarded as steady and adaptable.

Cultural activity

De Lijers

During the late 1970s, members of De Vrienden began producing music together. By the mid-1980s, releases circulated under the name De Lijers.

In 1989, following the imprisonment of Eef Hoos, the remaining four members released the song Veroordeeld, which gained recognition among Hoos family circles.

Takistan War (2017–2019)

Between 2017 and 2019, conflict emerged following investigations into the Rotterdam-Zuid (faction) and links to Takistan and Khalid bin Thani. Van Hetten participated alongside the other members of De Vrienden.

In 2018, Martin Paap sustained a severe gunshot wound during armed confrontations. Van Hetten treated him, and Paap recovered fully after approximately seven months. The conflict concluded in late 2019 with the signing of a neutrality agreement.
