The Hotel Rogganoid bombing was an attack on Hotel Rogganoid in Băneasa, Bucharest, Romania, on 9 June 2014. The bombing was ordered by Richard Rambam after Rasmus Rogganoid knowingly violated security conditions governing the R-Series. Jibbut Snagov carried out the attack after Rambam threatened him and his family.
The bombing destroyed Hotel Rogganoid and killed 47 people. Most of the dead were R-Series clones or members of the Rogganoid family, while no more than five were unrelated human guests or employees. Rasmus Rogganoid was killed in the collapse. Romanian police publicly described the destruction as a gas explosion on 10 June 2014.
Background
[edit | edit source]Hotel Rogganoid opened on 17 April 1998 as a luxury resort owned by Rasmus Rogganoid. On 13 May 2011, Rogganoid paid Snubable Enterprise €4.8 million for the creation of the R-Series, a limited clone series made from him as the genetic source. The clones were manufactured from 3 September 2011 to 28 November 2012 and were placed at Hotel Rogganoid on 12 January 2013, where they worked as resort staff.[1]
Jibbut Snagov opposed the contract when it was approved in 2011 because he considered placing Snubable-made clones with an outside customer a security risk. After the contract proceeded, Snagov imposed security conditions on the R-Series. Rogganoid was prohibited from identifying Snubable Enterprise as the source of the clones, and publicity involving the series required company approval.[2]
Contract breach
[edit | edit source]On 4 March 2014, Rogganoid knowingly violated the agreement by advertising the R-Series as part of Hotel Rogganoid.[3] By May, visitors were travelling to the resort partly to see the clones working there. The publicity exposed the R-Series outside the conditions imposed when they were supplied to Rogganoid.
After Richard Rambam learned of the breach, he ordered Snagov to destroy the hotel. Rambam told Snagov that he would be handed back to the Bucharest Butchers if he refused and threatened to have his family killed. Snagov was already severely depressed by this period and complied without arguing against the order.[2]
Bombing
[edit | edit source]On 9 June 2014, Snagov entered Hotel Rogganoid and brought hidden explosive charges into the building through its service area. The first explosion struck the lower service section and damaged the hotel's internal systems.
Fire spread upward through the building after the explosion. Damage to the lower structure caused the upper floors to collapse into the central part of the resort. Rasmus Rogganoid was on an upper floor when that section collapsed and was killed by falling concrete. Only parts of his body were recovered afterward.[4]
The attack killed 47 people. Most were R-Series clones or members of the Rogganoid family. No more than five of those killed were unrelated human guests or employees.
Cover-up
[edit | edit source]On 10 June 2014, Romanian police publicly described the destruction of Hotel Rogganoid as a gas explosion caused by damage to the building's internal utility systems. The official account did not identify Snagov, Rambam, Snubable Enterprise or the R-Series as connected to the destruction.
The gas-explosion explanation remained the public account of the loss of the hotel.
Aftermath
[edit | edit source]Hotel Rogganoid ceased operating after the bombing and was not rebuilt. The destruction also ended the use of the R-Series at the resort.
Snagov initially showed little outward reaction after carrying out the attack. His depression worsened during the following weeks as he continued working at Snubable Enterprise.[2]
Later on 9 June, Snagov also attacked members of the Rogganoid family in Bucharest. Viorica Rogganoid, Rolf Rogganoid and Renat Rogganoid were shot and killed. Rikard Rogganoid was reported shot on the same day, although his body was never recovered.[5]
