Project Umbrar

From the Vrienden Universe, a fictional wiki

Project Umbrar was a restricted biological research program operated by Snubable Enterprise from 19 June 2021 to 3 November 2022. It used a living Borvă transferred from Weltraumgruppen custody in an attempt to produce viable human–Borvă hybrid bodies. Snubable registered the organism as Specimen UB-01. The program did not produce a stable organism and never reached sustained production.[1][2]

Acquisition and containment

[edit | edit source]

Weltraumgruppen had classified the Borvă as Borva umbrensis and assigned it the registry code WG-BIO-0142. On 19 June 2021, Iakob Rambam accompanied a Weltraumgruppen retrieval mission operating under the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. The mission returned with the living organism, which was transferred to Snubable Enterprise and redesignated UB-01. Rambam helped move the specimen into containment and later arranged sanitation around contaminated equipment and restricted storage areas.[2][3]

Research

[edit | edit source]

The project combined human biological material with tissue taken from UB-01. The resulting experimental bodies were known as Umbrars. Paul Norggohole, Snubable's head of developmental cell biology, worked on the material during development, while Sorin Spitt directed medical assessment of the resulting bodies. Norggohole concluded that incomplete cellular reprogramming was the main cause of failure. Development could begin from both biological sources, but their cellular programs did not reset cleanly enough to produce a stable organism.[4]

The trial bodies showed repeated tissue instability and poor survival rates. During one failed run, Norggohole shouted at staff for repeating procedures incorrectly, swept an instrument tray onto the floor and ordered the work restarted. Richard Rambam did not discipline him.[4]

Closure

[edit | edit source]

Snubable ended Project Umbrar on 3 November 2022 as its resources declined and external pressure increased. UB-01 was killed during the shutdown. No trial body had survived reliably enough for stable production.[1][2]
