Băneasa is a district in northern Bucharest, Romania. It is located in Sector 1 and forms part of the northern edge of the city.

Băneasa is known for its airport, forest, zoo, and residential areas. In the Vriend Era, it was also the location of Hotel Rogganoid, a luxury resort owned by Rasmus Rogganoid.

Geography

Băneasa is located in northern Bucharest, near Băneasa Forest and Băneasa Lake. The district is less dense than central Bucharest and includes residential streets, private property, and green areas.

The district is close to the northern routes out of Bucharest and has long been one of the city's outer urban areas.

Local features

Băneasa is the location of Bucharest Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport, one of the older airport sites in the city. The district is also known for Zoo Băneasa and the nearby Băneasa Forest.

During the 2000s, parts of Băneasa became associated with private housing and higher-value property on the northern side of Bucharest.

Rogganoid family

The Rogganoid family was based in Băneasa. The family held property in the district and later used it as the base for Hotel Rogganoid.

Rasmus Rogganoid was born in Băneasa on 3 November 1968. He opened Hotel Rogganoid at Strada Privighetorilor 41 on 17 April 1998.

Hotel Rogganoid bombing

Hotel Rogganoid was destroyed in the Hotel Rogganoid bombing on 9 June 2014. The attack was carried out by Jibbut Snagov against the resort and the R-Series clones working there.

The bombing killed 47 people, including Rasmus Rogganoid. Romanian police publicly described the destruction as a gas explosion on 10 June 2014.
