Iacob Bălan (19 November 1998 – 14 May 2025) was a rapist and murderer and a member of Porno Bucharest. He killed himself and a family in a deliberate road collision.
Early life
[edit | edit source]Bălan grew up in a wealthy family. His parents held him to strict standards of conduct and paid for his education from childhood through his higher studies. He trained regularly in football and wanted to play professionally. A friend introduced him to recreational drugs. As his use increased, he gave up training and dropped out of his studies.
His parents threw him out after he repeatedly brought cannabis home and tried to make methamphetamine there. He called each of them a "bitch" and never spoke to them again.
Personal life
[edit | edit source]Around 2021, Bălan ran into his mother at a shop where he had gone to buy cigarettes. When she tried to speak to him, he spat in her face.
Bălan had an interest in cuckoldry. He probably met his Ukrainian girlfriend by the side of a road and went on to manipulate and sexually exploit her.
Criminal career
[edit | edit source]Bălan bought drugs from the Bucharest Butchers and joined them to work off a debt he couldn't pay. He likely started as a low-ranking member, collecting debts and keeping watch on the street. He liked the work and stayed with the gang.
Marku Ionuț heard about Bălan's sexual abuse and recruited him personally into Porno Bucharest. Bălan likely used the van to abduct women and children for the department, with playgrounds a frequent target.
Bălan took Black men who were being held for trafficking and forced them to engage in sexual acts with his girlfriend while he watched. He sought out the humiliation while high on drugs and grew furious during the assaults. He would then kill the captive, usually with a hammer or a steel pipe. A few weeks before his death, Bălan killed his girlfriend with a sledgehammer.
Death
[edit | edit source]Porno Bucharest ceased operating on 1 May 2025 after Marku was killed.[1] While fleeing the Fish Collective, Bălan deliberately drove the van into an oncoming car on the DN1A in Buftea, Romania. He died at the scene along with everyone in the car except the youngest child, who was rushed to hospital and died hours later.
