The Reichsvilla was an unbuilt mansion proposed by Jan Paap in 1950 for Georgetown, the capital of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. Paap intended it to become the largest mansion in the world and to accommodate senior members of his government. The project was abandoned after growing resistance disrupted construction planning. Eef Paap later rejected two proposals to revive it.
History
[edit | edit source]Jan Paap proposed the Reichsvilla in 1950, shortly after establishing the Oberkommando der Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. He wanted a large residence in Georgetown where senior members of the regime could stay and hold private meetings. The Bau-Einsatz, which Jan had founded in 1947 for his construction projects, also worked on plans associated with the proposed mansion.[1]
The building was to contain 60 rooms, ten restaurants and a swimming pool. Its main hall would have been decorated with gold, with a large portrait of Jan displayed on one of the walls. The plans also included a dome decorated with artwork depicting the Allgemeine SS.
Six rooms were designated as breeding rooms, where senior officers would have been permitted to select women for sexual exploitation. These facilities were intended exclusively for high-ranking members of the regime.
Security arrangements were drawn up for the mansion before construction began. The proposed Sicherheitsbüro der Reichsvilla (SD-RV) would have supervised security inside the building. It was to have a small response squad trained to deal with attacks or other emergencies. A separate SS-Standarte, a regiment-sized formation, was planned to patrol the grounds.
The project was abandoned as resistance to the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen increased during the early 1950s. Resistance activity disrupted infrastructure work and preparations to secure the proposed site. Jan did not proceed with construction, and the Reichsvilla remained on paper.[2]
Later proposals
[edit | edit source]In the late 1990s, Massimo Leonidas Cepedà presented the Reichsvilla plans to Eef Paap, who had succeeded Jan as Führer in 1980. Eef rejected the proposal. On 6 April 1998, he established the Féminas-abteilung Nacional de Eef Paap (FNdEP) with Cepedà and Chiche Alem. The department administered Eef's breeding programs, which involved the sexual exploitation of women.[3]
Cepedà returned to the project in 2006, this time with Juan Jose Grenillon, a senior officer in the FNdEP. They proposed reviving the Reichsvilla to provide the department with more organized facilities. Eef considered their proposal for two weeks before rejecting it. He instead granted Cepedà and Grenillon a new office in Belfort.[4]
